The year is already off to a great start following well-attended Advent and Christmas events and a tremendous show of parishioner support at the December Town Hall meeting and Sunday Masses presided over by Bishop O’Hara. The church was filled beyond capacity at the masses, many parishioners stayed to mingle at Coffee Hour following the masses and, importantly, engaged with Bishop O’Hara, Cardinal Dolan’s emissary, on the review of STM. Bishop O’Hara noted the high level of parishioner involvement, interest and, importantly, dedication at our small country church. The Bishop not only found noteworthy the document diligently prepared by Christopher Baldwin but the sheer range of activities at STM supporting both the parish and the neighborhood community. Following continuing dialogue with the Archdiocese and clarifying a number of misconceptions about STM, Fr. Madigan remains cautiously optimistic about the outcome of this review. Please check the bulletin and/or the website for updates.
At the start of this new year, the Parish Council is already in the midst of planning a number of activities including the Jan Food Drive (Jan 17) and Family Day (Feb date to be confirmed), a fun-filled Coffee Hour featuring pizza, king cakes and looney entertainment! The weekly Coffee Hour following the 10am Family Mass and monthly Sunday Cocktail Hour following the 5:45pm Sunday Mass continue. Please mark your calendars and we look forward to seeing you!
