The PC's first meeting for 2014 ? 2015 established the beginning of another year planned with activities to continue developing and supporting STM's parish community. Fr. Madigan reported on several initiatives including an increased giving campaign, return of MOREMusic concerts and monthly food drive in support of NY Common Pantry.
A review of STM's financial position for 2013 - 2014 reveals a Sunday collection, the core of recurring parish revenues, with a declining trend. While the year's finances were positive overall, they were helped due to a one-time bequest of $140,000 and strong unrealized investment income of nearly $168,000, neither of which can be considered as recurring for planning purposes. Over the past year, the parish has focused on managing its expenses at a pace which cannot be further expanded. A review of parish collection trends reveals that a commitment by more parish families to sustained giving over the whole year is an essential development to maintain a healthy financial trend. Revenues from all church sources are being reviewed by STM's Finance Committee. Fr Madigan will be discussing STM's finances at all the masses during the weekend of Sep 20 - 21, 2014.
As a sustaining church of NY Common Pantry (NYCP), STM is initiating a monthly parish food drive in support of NYCP's collection efforts. A collection box will be placed at the back of the church on designated weekends. The first collection weekend is planned for Sep 20 - 21, 2014. Please check the bulletin and website calendar for a complete list of dates and requested monthly food items.
Under the guidance of Chris Candela, STM's Music Director, MOREMusic concerts return after two years of planning with an exciting line-up of eight (8) concerts. Please check the bulletin and website calendar for concert dates and programs.
Other upcoming parish events include the Annual Pet Blessing (Oct 5th @2pm), Sunday Cocktail Hour (Oct 5th following the Sunday 545pm mass) and Oct 18 - 19 STM parish food drive.
