World Mission Sunday Oct. 20th
When we think of the Church’s missionaries, we inevitably think of some of the greats, like St. Francis Xavier, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini or Blessed Mother Teresa. And yet, by our Catholic identity given in baptism we are all called to be missionaries. While most of us will never be in a position to travel the world spreading the Gospel message, we can serve as missionaries by supporting with our prayers and contributions those who do so in the name of the Church Universal.
Next Sunday, we celebrate World Mission Sunday to raise an awareness of the needs of our missionaries and to afford us an opportunity to make a charitable donation.
With thanks and prayerful best wishes, I am, Faithfully in Christ,
Timothy M. Cardinal Dolan
Archbishop of New York
